System Overview

How the Pen System Works

The pen system consists of separate components which are assembled prior to use. Peptide compounds are supplied as lyophilised powder and must first be reconstituted, then transferred into a sterile glass pen cartridge for use with the pen device. All items are sold as individual laboratory instruments and consumables — the researcher is responsible for combining components.

Prepare Workspace
Clean surface, wash hands. Sanitise all vial caps and cartridge stopper with alcohol swab. Allow to air-dry.

Reconstitute Compound
Draw bacteriostatic water into the 3ml drawing syringe. Insert through peptide vial septum at an angle; introduce water slowly down the vial wall. Gently swirl — do not agitate — until powder is fully dissolved.

Fill the Pen Cartridge
Insert a venting needle into the side of the cartridge stopper to allow air displacement. Draw the reconstituted solution into the drawing syringe and slowly transfer it through the centre of the cartridge stopper. Remove venting needle.

Assemble Pen
Unscrew pen body, seat filled cartridge in cartridge holder, reassemble pen. Attach a new pen needle (ISO 11608-2). Remove outer and inner needle caps.

Prime & Verify
Hold pen upright. Dial to 2 units and actuate to purge air from needle — a droplet at tip confirms the fluid path is clear and the system is ready. Dial back to zero before setting research dose.

Storage
After use, replace needle cap. Store loaded pen refrigerated at 2–8°C, away from light. Metal pens: remove and separately store cartridge on extended breaks. Discard plastic pen with empty cartridge.

The nasal spray system consists of separate components assembled prior to use. Lyophilised peptide powder must first be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, then transferred into a sterile metered-dose spray bottle. All items are sold as individual laboratory instruments and consumables — the researcher is responsible for combining components.

Reconstitute the Compound
Draw the required volume of bacteriostatic water into the 3ml drawing syringe. Insert needle through vial septum at an angle and introduce water slowly down the vial wall. Gently swirl until powder fully dissolves — do not shake or agitate.

Prepare the Spray Bottle
Remove the pump actuator from the spray bottle by pulling it straight up. This exposes the open bottle neck for solution transfer. Set actuator aside on clean surface.

Transfer Solution
Draw the reconstituted solution into the drawing syringe from the peptide vial. Insert syringe into the open spray bottle neck and depress slowly to transfer the full solution. Remove syringe.

Reassemble & Prime
Reattach the pump actuator by pressing it firmly back into the bottle neck until it seats fully. Prime the pump by actuating 3–5 times (pointing away from all surfaces) until a consistent fine mist is produced. The system is then loaded and ready for dispensing.

Label & Store
Label the bottle with compound name, concentration, and preparation date. Store refrigerated at 2–8°C. Most reconstituted solutions remain stable for 4–6 weeks refrigerated in bacteriostatic water. Discard at first sign of cloudiness or particulate.

Standard 10ml spray bottle with 0.1ml actuator: adding 10mg of compound yields 1mg per actuation. Adding 5mg yields 500mcg per actuation. Adding 1mg yields 100mcg per actuation. Adjust bacteriostatic water volume accordingly to fill to ~9ml for optimal pump function.
